The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will make the official voter register available to all polling stations on Tuesday, August 2.
This move is to allow registered voters verify their identification before the election day.
Moreover, IEBC Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera, while addressing the media on Monday, August 1 said the register must be posted at each polling location by Tuesday evening.
Likewise, the poll materials will be distributed among the 46,299 polling locations that will be used for the election.
“Today we have started distribution of strategic materials to the counties. Remember seven days to the polls we affix the voter register outside the polling station and so this exercise will begin tomorrow and by end of business tomorrow we will have concluded the exercise,” Cherera stated.
Furthermore, Ms. Cherera said the exercise is expected to be smooth due to the early closure of schools as announced by Education CS George Mahoga.
She then added that the closure of schools is a vital part of the elections as most of them will be used as polling stations.

“We are happy that the Ministry of Education has announced the closure of schools to be tomorrow as it allows us to access the polling stations,” Cherera stated.
Meanwhile, IEBC reported that other strategic materials, such as ballot boxes and papers, have begun and will be delivered to the respective voting centers by August 6.
Similarly, as of now, all gubernatorial, senatorial, MP, and MCA ballot papers have arrived and are being stored at IEBC’s warehouse.
Additionally, just one batch of presidential ballot papers has arrived, with the last consignment expected to arrive on Wednesday, August 3.
Nonetheless, in May, 2022, IEBC gave eligible people the chance to check whether their biometric data was correctly documented in the register.
Electorates who had problems with their data were allowed to make a claim to the Registration Officer at any IEBC office across the country with a valid identity card or passport within the specified time frame.
