The Ministry of Interior and National Administration has issued a statement addressing reports linking the Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to a land dispute.
In a statement dated April 22, Julius Sigei, the head of communication in the Interior Ministry described the claims as false and based on unverified information.
“The attention of the Cabinet Secretary has been drawn to the wild and false allegations circulating in one of the dailies purporting to implicate him in a land dispute,” the statement read partly.
“We condemn, in the strongest terms possible, the publication of the false story, which is based on rumor, conjecture, and wild allegations.”
Murkomen Clarifies Role in Land Dispute Saga
According to the statement, Kipchumba Murkomen maintained that he has no personal interest in the property cited in the allegations and had no knowledge of the land, its location, or the existence of any dispute.
Further, the statement noted that the Cabinet Secretary has not been involved in any dealings related to the property in question, with the ministry stressing that the claims linking him to the land matter are not supported by facts.
“The Cabinet Secretary does not have an iota of personal interest in the property. In fact, he has no knowledge of the purported land, its location or the presence of a land dispute,” the statement noted.
Murkomen also addressed assertions regarding police activity, stating that the Cabinet Secretary does not conduct or participate in police patrols as alleged.

He clarified that such operational duties are carried out independently by police officers.
The statement additionally noted that police involvement in land-related issues is part of their routine mandate and does not imply any personal interest or direction from the Cabinet Secretary.
Ministry Clarifies Police Role and Calls for Swift Investigation in Land Dispute Saga
The Interior Ministry, in its statement, explained that the Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen, does not direct police in their day-to-day operations.
It clarified that his role is limited to issuing general policy guidelines, which are communicated publicly and in writing through the National Police Service via the Inspector General.

“The Cabinet Secretary, by law and in fact, does not direct police in their day-to-day work. He only issues general policy guidelines, which he does publicly, and in writing, through the Inspector General of Police,” it said.
The ministry emphasized that operational decisions within the police service remain independent and are not influenced by the Cabinet Secretary.
It further noted that the Cabinet Secretary has called on the Inspector General and relevant investigative agencies to act swiftly in addressing the matter.
According to the statement, the objective is to ensure that the interests of legitimate landowners are protected and that the issue is resolved in accordance with the law.
