The State Department for Correctional Services, under the Ministry of Interior, has announced 67 permanent and pensionable job vacancies for Kenyans with KCSE grades ranging from D (Plain) to D+.
In a notice issued on June 18, qualified candidates were invited to apply for the jobs through the PSC online recruitment portal. The vacant posts include Cook III, Housekeeping Assistant III, Security Warden II, and Artisan III, and applications will close on August 3, 2026.

Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants for the Cook III positions must possess a KCSE mean grade of D (Plain) and either a Craft Certificate in Food and Beverage Production, Sales and Service, or formal food production training lasting at least two months.
Candidates applying for the Housekeeping Assistant III position must have a KCSE mean grade of D (Plain) and at least 2 months of formal training in housekeeping or laundry services.
For Artisan III positions, applicants are required to have a KCSE mean grade of D (Plain), a Government Trade Test Certificate (Grade III) in a field such as carpentry, masonry, welding, painting, plumbing, or a related trade, and computer application skills.
The Ministry said applicants for the Security Warden II posts must have a minimum KCSE grade of D+, a valid Certificate of Good Conduct, and be under 36 years of age. Candidates are also required to be physically and mentally fit for the role.
According to the Ministry of Interior, successful candidates will be employed on permanent and pensionable terms and will earn a monthly salary ranging from KSh 21,120 to KSh 26,250.
In addition to the basic salary, employees will receive a monthly commuter allowance of KSh 3,000, an annual leave allowance of KSh 6,500, house allowance based on their duty station, medical cover, and 30 days of annual leave.

The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, August 3, at 5:00 p.m.
The Ministry of Interior cautioned applicants against submitting false information or forged academic certificates, noting that doing so is a criminal offense.
It also stated that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and encouraged people with disabilities, minorities, and marginalized groups to apply
