Israel military has struck Yemen’s Red Sea port of Hodeidah, Al Masirah TV—a station affiliated with the Houthi movement—reported.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the attack in a statement: “A short while ago, the IDF struck a military infrastructure site belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime at the Hodeidah Port in Yemen.”
This comes after Israel’s military earlier announced plans to strike Hodeidah Port, issuing an evacuation order to civilians and workers at the strategic Red Sea facility, a spokesperson confirmed.
In a statement published in Arabic on Tuesday, September 16, military spokesperson Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee said the planned attack was in response to “military activity by the Houthi terror regime” in the area.
“Urgent Warning to Everyone Present at the Port of Hodeidah in Yemen. The Defense Army will attack in the coming hours in the area specified on the map in light of the military activities carried out by the terrorist Houthi regime there,” the statement read.
“For your safety, we call on everyone present in Hodeidah Port and the ships anchored there to evacuate immediately. Anyone who remains in the area is endangering his life.”
The Houthis, an Iran-backed rebel group that controls much of northern Yemen, have launched repeated attacks on Israel and Red Sea shipping since the war in Gaza began.
On Sunday, September 14, the IDF reported that sirens were activated in Be’er Ora, southern Arava, following the infiltration of a drone launched by the Houthis from Yemen.

Sirens sounded in the adjacent town of Be’er Ora following the launch of a drone and amid fears of falling fragments after Iron Dome interceptor missiles shot it down.
A day earlier, on Saturday, Israel’s air defenses intercepted a missile fired from Yemen after warning sirens rang out across central Israel.
In its initial statement, the IDF confirmed detecting the launch and said air defense systems had been activated to counter the threat.
Authorities also urged the public to follow Home Front Command safety instructions.

On Monday September 8, the military reported intercepting another drone launched from Yemen after sirens were activated near Eilat, a day after the Houthis struck an airport close to the southern Israeli city with a drone.
Later that day, the IDF said sirens were also triggered in the Negev following the intrusion of another drone, though it did not clarify what happened to it.
Israel’s Ramon Airport near Eilat resumed operations after being briefly shut on Sunday when a drone from Yemen hit the arrivals hall.
This escalation comes just days after Israel struck the Hamas political bureau in Doha, Qatar.
