The Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT)has announced that it is selling a piece of its land in Kigali.
According to a notice on Tuesday, February 13, the institution indicated that it intended to dispose of the parcel of land after closing down its campus.
Further, the notice detailed that the piece of land, located in Kigali city was 45,479 square meters.
“The Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology intends to dispose the parcels of land measuring approximately 45,479 sqm situated at Kigali City, Kicukiro District, Gahanga Village, Karembure Locality.
“The University now invites sealed tenders from eligible candidates to purchase the said parcels,” the notice indicated.
JKUAT closed it Kigali campus officially in 2020 after a directive by the Ministry of Education.

How to Bid
Interested buyers were directed to reach out to the institution through tenders@jkuat.ac.ke, to allow them to inspect the land.
Additionally, they ought to obtain the tender document from the university procurement department at JKUAT main campus.
“Interested and eligible candidates may inspect and obtain Tender Document from the University’s Department of Procurement at JKUAT – Main Campus or download documents from our website: www.jkuat.ac.ke free of charge from PPIP portal: Public Procurement Information Portal www.tenders.go.ke,” the document read in part.
Also, the institution asked the bid document should not be altered and the tenders ought to be stamped.
“The Tenderers should stamp and serialize all pages and SHOULD NOT alter the Bid Document.

“Sealed Tenders must be accompanied by duly completed forms as specified in the Bid Documents with Original and a copy in the same envelop and addressed to: Vice Chancellor, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, P.O. Box 6200000200, Nairobi,” added the statement.
JKUAT Leases Land in Nairobi
On the other hand, the institution indicated that it was leasing two parcels of land in Lavington, Nairobi.
In addition, according to a notice from the university, the parcels of land were open for lease for a period of 10 years.
“Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology intends to lease the two parcels of land measuring approximately 2.013 acres situated at Jipe Close Lavington Estate, Nairobi City County.
“The University now invites sealed tenders from eligible candidates to lease the said property. The lease period is for ten (10) years, renewable under a lease agreement,” added the notice.
