Veteran journalist and former KTN News anchor Njoroge Mwaura has passed away.
The news has been shared by his wife, Lucy Njoroge, who has explained that the journalist passed away after developing complications during surgery at a Nairobi hospital.

The journalist was 74 years old.
Mwaura, who was widely respected for his eloquence and sharp journalism skills, had been admitted for a medical procedure, but complications arose, leading to his untimely demise.

Details surrounding the surgery have not been shared by the family.
The veteran journalist was a familiar face in Kenyan media, having anchored news at KTN for several years before retirement. He was the prime time news anchor for the station when started its operations in 1992.

Journalist Njoroge Mwaura’s Legacy at Media
The veteran journalist was widely known for his segment, Njoroge Notebook, where he tackled various pressing issues affecting the country.
He was highly regarded in the media industry, with many journalists crediting him for his mentorship and referring to him as “The TV Legend.”
Mwaura maintained strong ties with KTN, anchoring news for several years until his retirement from television in 2013. However, he returned to the station in 2012, as part of its rebranding efforts.
Following his departure from KTN, Mwaura chose to live a private life, staying away from the public eye.
He worked alongside other media legends including the late Cathrine Kasavuli and former CNN journalist Zein Vergee.

Mambo Mbotela’s Death
The news comes weeks after the passing of Veteran journalist Leonard Mambo Mbotela. The veteran radio presenter passed away on Friday, February 7.
The broadcaster had been battling illness for some time and passed away at around 9:30 AM at the age of 85.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Mwikali, and their three children: Aida, Jimmy, and George.
Mbotela was best known for his widely popular radio and TV program, Jee Huu ni Ungwana? which aired on KBC. Launched in 1966, the show ran for an impressive 55 years, earning a loyal audience and leaving a lasting impact in the media industry.
