The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has issued clarification over the mass recruitment of civilians and other service personnel.
In a statement, the ministry of Defence indicated that the online platform asking Kenyans to submit applications for the recruitment beginning August 26, is not an official authority.
According to the ministry, the advertisement has been circulated online to mislead unsuspecting Kenyans.
“Our attention has been drawn to information circulating online regarding the recruitment process for the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF),
“The online platforms purport to advertise recruitment on behalf of KDF, and the announcements insinuate application forms for recruitment of Service personnel and civilian employees of the Ministry,” stated the ministry.

KDF Reveals Details of the Fake Advert
Moreover, KDF has noted that the advert is asking interested candidates to submit their applications before September 9, 2024.
Additionally, candidates have been asked to log onto the ministry of Defence job portal to submit application.
“Further, potential candidates are being urged to log onto the job portal (www.mod.go.ke). Ironically, the advertisement warns the public against malpractices in the alleged recruitment process,” the statement added.
However, the Ministry of Defence has stated that has not advertised any recruitment process nor is it conducting any recruitment exercise.
“The Ministry emphasizes that the official KDF recruitment drive will be announced through mainstream media channels, the Ministry’s official website (www.mod.go.ke), and KDF’s verified social media platforms.”
Consequently, the ministry is taking steps to trace the origins of the misinformation and to hold those responsible accountable.

How to Detect Fake Publications
One way to identify fake publications and notices is by verifying the source of the information.
Start by checking if the document originates from an official website or a social media platform linked to a reputable organization.
It is important to note that many fake publications attempt to mimic real organizations by using similar domain names or branding.
Additionally, these fraudulent sources often contain grammatical errors and other mistakes that genuine government officials are unlikely to make.
