The Kenya Air Force has appointed a new Kenya Air Force Sergeant Major (KAFSM), Warrant Officer Class One (WOI).
Leparsalach Franco was appointed in the new ranks in a colorful ceremony on March 5, 2025, at the Kenya Airforce Headquarters, Moi Air Base Eastleigh.

The Event was graced by the Commander of Kenya Air Force, Major General Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed.
Leparsalach Franco, New Sergeant Major
During the ceremony, General Ahmed officially conferred the new rank of Leparsalach Franco.

Additionally, he urged Franco to uphold the core values of the Kenya Air Force while working closely with other Service Sergeant Majors to enhance the welfare and discipline of service members.
KAFSM, WOI Leparsalach Franco joined the Kenya Defence Forces in 1985.

Later, he rose through the ranks to become the Base Sergeant Major (MAB) in March 2024.
Previously, he served as the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) and Guard of Honour, holding various command appointments at the unit and wing levels.
Kenya Air Force Bids Farewell
Additionally, the ceremony served as a farewell for the outgoing KAFSM, WOI Dennis Talengo, who retired after over 40 years of selfless service to the country.
Major Fatuma praised WOI Talengo for his unwavering exemplary leadership and mentorship.
He served in diligence and was a pillar of discipline and inspiration in the Air Force.

“Your dedication, leadership, and selflessness have left an indelible mark on the Kenya Air Force. You have inspired generations of airmen and airwomen. As you retire, we thank you for your distinguished service and wish you the very best in your future endeavours,” said Maj Gen Ahmed.
Further, the Deputy Commander Kenya Air Force, Brigadier Samuel Kipkorir, joined the Major in hailing praises to the outgoing KAFSM.
“WOI Talengo, your service has been an inspiration to many. As you retire, your legacy will continue to guide the Kenya Air Force. To the incoming KAFSM, congratulations on your appointment. Lead with integrity, courage, and dedication to the service,” said Brig Kipkorir.

About Retired Major Talengo
Talengo will go down in history as the longest-serving KASFM, having held the position for nine years.
Additionally, his tenure was marked by exceptional leadership, professionalism, and dedication to the welfare of service members.
