The Kenya national football team Harambee Stars has moved four places up in the latest FIFA world ranking released on Thursday April 4, 2024.
Harambee Stars climbed four spots to sit at position 107 up from its former position 111 ranked on February 15th, 2024.
Kenya had a glorious outing in the March international break where the national team won the Four Nations tournament held in Lilongwe, Malawi beating Zimbabwe 3-1 in the final held at Bingu National Stadium on March 26, 2024.
Despite missing out on the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and recent warnings from the world football governing body FIFA, Harambee Stars has managed to outperform East African rivals Tanzania in the latest FIFA rankings.
The Taifa Stars remain at position 119 in the latest FIFA rankings despite participating in the prestigious AFCON competition.

FIFA World Rankings
Uganda is the highest-ranked East African nation at position 92.
Kenya is ranked position 24 in Africa according to the latest rankings released by world football governing body FIFA. Uganda, on its part, stands at position 19 while Tanzania was placed in position 34.
Argentina is still the first in the world ranking ahead of France and Belgium.
North African giants Morocco has remained Africa’s top-ranked team, dropping one place to 13th while the Senegal comes 2nd having remained at 17th.
AFCON 2023 champions Ivory Coast have climbed one place up to position 38, while runners-up Nigeria have dropped two spots from 28th to position 30.

The lowest point for Kenya in FIFA rankings came in July 2007 when they were ranked 137th in the world.
This period marked a challenging time for the team as it struggled to assert themselves on the global stage.
However, Kenya’s fortunes turned around in December 2008 when it achieved its highest-ever ranking of 68th in the world.
This milestone was a testament to the team’s hard work and determination, as it managed to climb significantly in the international standings.
Harambee Stars’ journey through 2023 was a rollercoaster of emotions with victories and defeats that showcased its potential and areas of weaknesses.
Kenya will resume their 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June when they have back-to-back home matches against Burundi and newly crowned African champions Ivory Coast.
