The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) has warned members of the public against fake job and internship opportunities announcement.
In a statement, the Society flagged a job alert that has be making rounds on social media.
“The Kenya Red Cross Society warns members of the public not to fall victim to this fake recruitment exercise.
Legitimate job opportunities with us are exclusively posted on http://redcross.or.ke/careers. Stay vigilant and beware of such fraudulent posters,” said KRCS.
In the fake advert, there were allegations that the Society needed 210 Migration Officers, 303 Nurses, 218 Drivers and 412 Early Action Program.
Other positions included Sales and Marketing Officers (209), Social Workers (196), Laboratory Technologist (154), IT Technologies (307), Public Health Officers and Accountants (139).
The advert also announced 204 Human Resource Officers vacancies, 407 Community Educators, 114 Scene Coordinators and 119 Disaster Managers.
“Due to the current inevitable climate change experienced in the nation, Kenya Red Cross Society hereby advertise for numerous positions to help in stepping up the effectiveness of salvaging the situation,” read the flagged advert.
Besides, the advert declared the recruitment of Broadcast Officers, Security Officers, Community Health volunteers and Evacuation Officers.
Job Requirements
Some of the qualifications were Kenyan citizenship and a certificate from any level of education at a recognized institution.
The applicants were also required to be ready to work extra hours and in any part of the country.
“Qualified applicants should submit their applications to www.redcross.co.ke forward the same to redcrossrescue2023@gmail.com by close of business 15th January 2024,” read the fake job advert.
At the same time, they were required to have knowledge in the area of application and be ready to respond to any emergency when need arise.
It directed interested individuals to address their applications to Human Resource Manager, KRCS, P.O Box 40712-00100, Nairobi Kenya.

About Kenya Red Cross
The Kenya Red Cross Society was founded in 1965 under the Kenya Red Cross Society Act (Chapter 256 Laws of Kenya).
It was officially acknowledged by the Kenyan government as a voluntary aid society working alongside public authorities and holds the distinction of being the sole National Red Cross Society in Kenya.
Regarding its relationship with public authorities, KRCS maintains independence, enabling it to operate in alignment with the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Its Constitution is rooted in the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols of 1977, to which Kenya is a signatory.

President William Ruto was formally inaugurated as the 5th Patron of Kenya Red Cross Society in November 2022 following his election as President in August of the same year.
This is in line with the Society’s Constitution which provides that the sitting head of state shall be Patron of the Society.
