The fate of Kenyan lead Mission in Haiti hangs in the balance with allies of President Donald Trump pushing for El Salvador to take over the operation and battle gangs based on its previous success stories.
Trump’s ally, Matt Gaetz, is advocating for the Salvadorian military, praised for its crackdown on gangs, to lead the mission against gang violence in Haiti.
In his speech on One America News, Matt Gaetz proposed that El Salvador should occupy Haiti.
The proposal is questionable since the alternative security mission, the El Salvador deployment, puts the fate of the Kenyan police in balance.
Matt Gaetz questiond if there has ever been a leader in the Western Hemisphere who has conquered and jailed a web of street gangs.
“If only we could think of a leader in the Western Hemisphere who has recently conquered, defeated and jailed a web of street gangs, “He asks.
He further clarified that the Western Hemisphere has no fighting force recently, as he compares them with the Salvadorian military, which has shown some success in handling the street gangs.
“There is no fighting force in the Western Hemisphere with more recent, relevant success against street gangs than the Salvadorian Military,” he says.
Why El Salvador is given as an alternative for Haiti gang
In a previous agreement with the United States, El Salvador agreed to house prisoners at CECOT for $6 million.
From that, Matt Gaetz mentioned that El Salvador is promising, and, at a fair price, they are likely to do the right job.

“And the agreement between El Salvador and the United States to house prisoners at CECOT for $6 million proves that – for a fair price – El Salvador will do the job right.”
He further detailed that Americans have paid Salvadorians to do jobs they did not want to do on their own in the US, and therefore, there was a need to pay them to do the task in Haiti.
“Think about it – Americans have been paying Salvadorians to do the jobs we don’t want to do here at home for decades.”
“Why not pay them to do the job we don’t want to do in Haiti? “He questioned.
Reactions from the US citizens
X user @SCbeach2NE, a US citizen, reacted to Matt’s remarks, making it clear that El Salvador running a prison is not deportation but a relocation because the US itself is a territory.

“If the US takes it on as a territory and lets El Salvador run a prison. It is not deportation; it is relocation on US soil.”
“Modern problems/ modern solution. Or put a large US consulate that had a jail. Same answer- US land,” She further clarifies.
