Kenyans on social media have reacted to a video shared by Cable News Network (CNN) journalist Larry Madowo, depicting a heavily leaking roof at the Old Trafford stadium on May 12.
Larry took to his social media accounts sharing the video showcasing the leaking roof of the stadium after the exciting match between Manchester United and Arsenal.
“It’s raining heavily in Old Trafford, and I didn’t bring a sweater, look at that,” Larry remarked.
Expressing his shock, the journalist noted his surprise at the condition of the stadium, remarking that he had seen better stadiums in Africa.
“If I hadn’t filmed the Old Trafford waterfall myself, I wouldn’t have believed it. I’ve seen nicer stadiums in Africa,” Larry said.
Reactions to Old Trafford Leaking Roof
X user Odinga Mandela, threw a subtle jab at Roads and Transport CS Murkomen saying, “Murkomen, the number one-Man U fan needs 700 million to fix that.”
Farhiya Abass jokingly pointed out the coincidence of Larry’s involvement in both the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) leakage incidents and the recent Old Trafford Stadium situation, considering his repeated coverage of the JKIA leaks.

“From JKIA to Old Trafford…the constant here is you Larry,” she noted.
“Even Old Trafford’s roof couldn’t hold back the tears watching the team’s performance, or maybe its leaking to keep the fans cool. But on a serious note, they won’t fix JKIA leaking roofs after seeing this,” stated another user Dr. Gatimu Muchai.
A user named Joe also roped in CS Murkomen mentioning the recent JKIA leaks saying “Murkomen has evidence now to tackle you against JKIA.”
However, Dennis Odhiambo took the chance to make fun noting that the stadium was as old as its name suggests.
ADVERT
“The name suggests. Old Trafford,” he wrote.
Some users like Hassan called out the journalist noting that he is always complaining and playing victim.
“Larry Madowo is the perennial victim through and through, he is complaining about everything and yet he is at top of his game, or your voters are in Manchester?” he posed.
Barrcak Gumba said, “Next time you won’t be allowed there. Hayaaa.”
Larry Madowo Exposing JKIA
However, this is not the first time Larry Madowo is capturing facilities on video over controversial issues.
He has over time exposed problems experienced by travelers at the JKIA arousing mixed reactions from Kenyans including government officials.
Larry’s coverage of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport’s woes including blackout, leakages and recent flooding in the country attracted both positive and negative reactions.
While a section of Kenyans applauded his efforts in exposing government shortcomings, others felt that his reporting was casting the country in a negative light.
In a recent event, Madowo received backlash after he criticized the transport Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen on the May 1st blackout at International Airport.
“Blackout right now at JKIA hours after Kenya’s Transport Minister toured it and said they had stabilized the electricity supply,” he said.
This sentiment faced backlash from some Kenyans who reiterated their previous criticism of Larry’s perceived negative portrayal of the country.
