Kenyatta University Introduces Free Online Courses; How to Apply

Kenyatta University (KU) has launched a new initiative offering students the chance to enhance their tech skills through a series of free online courses.

The courses are designed to equip students with essential knowledge in modern technology fields and prepare them for the ever-evolving digital world.

Students who complete the courses will be issued with a certificate from Cisco after completion. 

“To earn a certificate from Cisco for a course, one needs to complete the course and complete the course survey at the end of the course (Mandatory),” the university announced. 

Moreover, with the growing demand for tech professionals worldwide, the courses provide KU students with a competitive advantage in the job market.

Available Courses for KU Students 

The courses available include an Introduction to Modern AI. The course explores the basics of artificial intelligence, offering an overview of the concepts, applications, and impact of AI in various industries.

Additionally, the university will offer a course on Introduction to Data Science. Students will gain insights into the data science process, including data collection, analysis, and visualization techniques.

Also on the list is the Operating Systems Basics course. This course covers the fundamentals of operating systems, helping students understand their structure and functionality.

KU is offering a free course on Digital Awareness. It is aimed at promoting the safe and effective use of digital platforms, this course introduces students to the world of digital literacy, covering internet safety, online communication, and privacy.

Introduction to Cybersecurity is also available for interested students. The course focuses on the importance of safeguarding digital information, this course teaches students about the fundamentals of cybersecurity, threats, and protection strategies.

How to apply

The initiative is open to all Kenyatta University (KU) students.

To register, students need only to use their KU student email addresses and fill out a simple online application form here.

However,  students can register for more than one course.

By submitting the application form multiple times, students can take advantage of all the offered courses, allowing them to gain a well-rounded understanding of key digital technologies.
