KUCCPS Announces Cut Off Grades for Certificate, Diploma and Degree Courses

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially announced the minimum academic qualifications for students seeking placement into various post-secondary programs.

The announcement follows the release of the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results.

According to KUCCPS, the application process for Artisan (Level 4), Craft (Level 5), Diploma (Level 6), and Degree courses will begin soon.

Interested applicants have been directed to look out for any announcements by the placement service.

Further, KUCCPS indicated that it will open its online application portal at students.kuccps.net to allow successful KCSE candidates to apply for courses in their respective qualification categories.

“Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is preparing to open the online application portal students.kuccps.net for the 2024 KCSE students whose results were released.”

“When the application portal opens, the 2024 KCSE students will be able to log in and apply for courses. KUCCPS will announce the start of the application through the mass media, its website www.kuccps.ac.ke and social media pages,” a statement from KUCCPS read in part.

Minimum Admission Requirements for Various Levels

The eligibility requirements for each education level are as follows:

For Artisan (Level 4) programs, students must have a KCSE mean grade of E while for Craft (Level 5) programs, applicants will require a KCSE mean grade of D and above.

Further, admission to Diploma (Level 6) programs is open to students with a KCSE mean grade of C– and above.

All degree programs require a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ and above.

However, some courses may have additional subject-specific requirements, which will be detailed on the KUCCPS portal when the application period begins.

For degree placements, students’ weighted cluster points and cut-off scores will also be provided to guide their course selection.

Applications Ongoing through the KUCCPS Portal

KUCCPS is running two application processes set to close on January 17, 2025. These include the January 2025 intake for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions targeting KCSE candidates from 2023.

Also, applications for earlier placed and transfer applications for students placed in previous intakes.
