Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has ordered deployment of a special security team to Kisii county after a surge in criminal attacks.
According to Kindiki, the special team will investigate and hold accountable all criminal operators in the county who have been involving in criminal activities.
In addition, the deployment is aimed at enhancing surveillance and reducing muggings and stabbings perpetrated by organized gangs.
“The Government has made personnel changes, and a special team has been deployed to investigate and bring to account Organizers, financiers, and perpetrators of violent criminal incidents recently witnessed in parts of Kisii County,” the CS stated.
Further, the CS requested security agencies to prioritize preventive security and enforce the law firmly without regard to the political affiliation or social rank of law breakers.

The directive was announced at Kisii Town, during a security briefing with the County, Sub-County and Divisional security heads from the entire Kisii County.
Kindiki Boosts security in Nyamira County
In other related news, Kindiki employed new strategic measures to boost security in every part of the county.
This was revealed at Nyamira town during a routine security performance review meeting with County, Sub-County and Divisional security heads from various agencies in Nyamira County.
“Government has taken measures to strengthen law enforcement to ensure every part of Kenya is safe and secure.
Security managers across the Country have been given performance targets to meet.
Periodic reviews will be carried out to ensure continuous upgrading of service delivery,” Kindiki stated.
On November 10, 2023, Police in Kisii arrested a middle-aged man for the murder. The man allegedly killed a 22-year-old first year student at Kisii Polytechnic.

Elsewhere, a gang of between 15 to 20 people raided a village in Manyerero ward in Kisii county while residents were asleep and began demanding money from them.
Other incidents include the brutal killings of elderly women accused of witchcraft, issues such as land disputes and socio-cultural beliefs.
