The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has released all missing teacher education certificates. In a statement on July 31, the Council informed all Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) that the missing certificates are out and ready for collection at the respective colleges.
KNEC also directed TTCs and candidates with missing cases to contact the Sub-County Director of Education (SCDEs) for assistance.

“KNEC wishes to inform all teacher training colleges and candidates that all missing 2022 and 2023 outstanding teacher education certificates have been released and are ready for collection,” the statement reads in part.
“For missing cases contact KNEC through respective SCDEs via the college,” KNEC said.

The Council administers Teacher Education Examinations, which are professional examinations administered to persons wishing to join the teaching profession at various levels.
These examinations include Primary Teacher Education (PTE), Diploma in Teacher Education (DTE), Teacher Certificate in Adult Education (TCAE), Diploma in Special Needs Education Part I and II and Early Childhood Development Education under Proficiency, Certificate and Diploma Examination (ECDE).

KNEC Teacher Certificate Courses
ECDE examinations are courses taken by students who wish to specialize in Early Childhood Education.
The Council also administers PTE examination which is a two-year course taken by students who wish to be teachers at Primary School level after they complete the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination. The students who pursue the course are awarded with Certificate in Primary Teacher Education.
Besides, there is the TCAE examination; a two-year course taken by students who wish to be teachers at Adult Education centers after they complete the KCSE examination.
The students who pursue the course are awarded with Certificate in TCAE. This examination is administered to eligible candidates within Kenya by the Directorate of Adult and Continuing Education, in the Ministry of Education on behalf of the Council.

Diploma Courses
Teachers can pursue ECDE course under diploma levels and get Diploma or Certificate in ECDE after two years of study.
KNEC also offers Diploma in Special Needs Education examination which is a two-year course taken by teachers who wish to specialize in Special Needs Education.

The teachers who pursue the course are awarded with Diploma in SNE after students complete the teacher training course at various levels.
Additionally, the Council offers DTE examination which is a three-year course taken by students who wish to be teachers at secondary school level after completing the KCSE examination.
The students who pursue the course are awarded with Diploma in Teacher Education.
