List of 19 Companies Controlling Kenya’s Fuel Market Today

List Of 19 Companies With Highest Oil Market Shares In Kenya

According to the latest data from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), 144 registered Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are operating in Kenya.

The data highlights sales and market shares of these companies as of December 2024, according to the Biannual Energy and Petroleum Statistics Report for the Financial Year 2024/2025. 

These companies distribute products such as Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Industrial Kerosene (IK), Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Jet A1 fuel, lubricants, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

However, only a few companies control the bulk of the market. Here is a breakdown of the leading oil marketers in Kenya, their total sales in cubic meters (m³), and their market share.

Top Companies Selling Fuel in Kenya

Vivo Energy Kenya Limited leads the sector with a 21.34% market share, translating to total sales of 621,226.91 cubic meters. Operating under the Shell brand, Vivo Energy has established itself as the biggest player in the industry.

Following closely is Rubis Energy Kenya Plc that has secured a 15.96% share with sales amounting to 464,539.40 cubic meters.

Third on the list is TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya Plc which holds a 14.53% share, with total sales of 422,882.76 cubic meters, maintaining its presence in the market.

Further, Ola Energy Kenya Limited which was formerly OiLibya, commands a 4.42% market share with sales of 128,721.00 cubic meters, while Be Energy Limited has took 3.72% of the market, selling 108,365.86 cubic meters through competitive pricing strategies.

Also, Hass Petroleum Kenya Limited holds position six among the companies with a 3.16% share and 92,105.00 cubic meters of petroleum products sold. 

At the seventh position is Galana Energies Limited which accounts for 3.12% of the market with sales of 90,698.06 cubic meters. Stabex International Ltd follows with a 2.29% share, selling 66,693.53 cubic meters of petroleum products.

On the other hand, Lake Oil Limited contributes 1.95% to the market with 56,823.21 cubic meters sold, while Petro Oil Kenya Limited holds a 1.90% share with sales of 55,455.00 cubic meters.

Tosha and the Bottom 9 

At the 11th position, Tosha Petroleum (Kenya) Limited holds a 1.90% share, with sales of 55,376.94 cubic meters, aiming to strengthen its market position.

Additionally, Dalbit Petroleum Limited accounts for 1.81% of the Kenyan market with 52,814.21 cubic meters sold, while Oryx Energies Kenya Limited holds a 1.55% share with sales of 45,104.67 cubic meters, operating across East Africa.

Towba Petroleum Company Limited at position 14, has a 1.39% market share with 40,453.16 cubic meters sold, while Aftah Petroleum (K) Ltd holds a 1.28% share with sales of 37,180.89 cubic meters. 

EPRA has ranked Zacosia Trading Limited at the 16th position. It accounts for 1.26% of the market with 36,665.19 cubic meters sold. 

Gapco Kenya Limited holds a 1.19% share in the fuel market with sales of 34,555.00 cubic meters, while Astrol Petroleum Company Limited contributes 1.18% to the market with 34,406.08 cubic meters sold. 

Sahara Energy Limited rounds out the list with a 1.07% share, selling 31,127.44 cubic meters. 

However, aside from the major players in the industry, other smaller companies collectively hold 14.98% of the market, amounting to 436,019.81 m³ in total sales.
