President William Ruto met with several Presidents, Prime Ministers, and other world leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly (UNGA) 79th session in New York, United States.
Ruto held talks with the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, on September 22, marking his first meeting with a head of state at UNGA. He explained that the two countries enjoy strong bilateral ties, strengthened through collaborations in areas of shared interest.
“We are keen on enhancing our partnership to empower our citizens, as well as advancing global goals such as peace, security, and climate action,” Ruto said after the meeting.
The President also met with the President of Angola, João Lourenço. They discussed the strengthening of the African Union and how Africa can harness its renewable energy resources to drive green industrialization and unlock its economic potential.
Ruto also held talks with the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness. The two agreed to rally the international community to avail adequate resources for the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM) in Haiti.
The President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, committed to supporting the MSSM in Haiti after a meeting with Ruto. Ruto said Abinader would provide medical evacuation and supplies, and additional troops to boost the operation and advance peace and stability in Haiti.
Additionally, he met with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal and discussed Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission Chairperson.
“We will deepen our ties with Senegal to advance shared goals in peace, development, and continental integration,” Ruto said.
Ruto also held discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron during the Paris Pact for the People and the Planet Coalition leaders’ lunch meeting.
He met South African President Cyril Ramaphosa during a high-level event on securing the health and well-being of every woman, child, and adolescent.
The event was hosted by Ramaphosa on September 25 and attended by other leaders, including the President of Liberia, Joseph Boakai, and the Prime Minister of Tanzania, Kassim Majaliwa.

Ruto Meets Other Top World Leaders
He met Queen Máxima of the Netherlands to discuss a partnership aiming to provide reliable financial solutions to economically deprived communities, thereby promoting economic growth in both countries.
The President also met with Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. He revealed that Kenya and Indonesia would collaborate in establishing alternative financing alliances for sustainable development.
Ruto also held talks with the President of the Ford Foundation, Darren Walker; the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization, Celeste Saulo; and the Executive Director of the World Food Programme, Cindy McCain.
Further, he held talks with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and discussed modalities for strengthening cooperation in support of the Kenya-led MSSM in Haiti.

U.N Secretary General, UK Prime Minister & Haiti Council
Ruto also held discussions with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Mariano Grossi.
Additionally, he met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and discussed the implementation of the Railway City project, the extension of the country’s strategic partnership agreement, and the expansion of trade.
Ruto also met with the President of the Transitional Presidential Council of Haiti, Edgard Leblanc Fils, in New York.
“We reviewed the outcomes of our outreach at the UN General Assembly on support for Haiti in general and the Multinational Security Support Mission in particular,” he said after the meeting.
