Azimio la Umoja spokesperson Makau Mutua has now says they do not recognise William Ruto as the president-elect.
Speaking during an interview on Spice FM on Thursday, Makau said he was confident the Azimio coalition won the August 9 election.

“As far as we are concerned there is no valid or legally declared winner of the election. There is no president-elect, perish that thought. We do not recognize that at all,” Makau said.
Consequently, Mutua said they are moving to the Supreme court to confirm their victory.

However, he called on Azimio supporters to stay calm as they pursue the legal processes.
Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga, has disputed the presidential results announced by IEBC terming them null and void.

Mutua argues that it was wrong for IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati to make decisions without the input of all the IEBC commissioners.
“Chebukati does not give himself permission to pronounce on the results of the election. He announces the decision of the commission about the outcome of election. He is a mouthpiece of the commission,” he said.
Four IEBC commissioners have distanced themselves from the results released by Chebukati terming them as Opaque.
Chebukati has however dismissed the rebel commissioners accusing them of sabotage
Chebukati claimed that the four wanted to alter results to force a presidential run-off
