James Gossip holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics and Accountancy from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK.
He is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (UK) and the Securities and Futures Association (UK).
Career Background of James Gossip
Before joining NCBA, James held various senior roles at HSBC, the most recent being Managing Director, Belt & Road Initiative and Business Corridors, Asia Pacific, at HSBC Global Services Limited in Hong Kong.
From August 2000 to December 2005, he was the managing director for the United Araba Emirates, responsible for onshore equities broking, custody, and institutional asset management placement, as well as handling new business development and strategy.

He also worked as a managing director, Belt and Road Initiative, and business corridors, where he developed and coordinated growth strategies to capitalize on the increasing flows of customer activities between ‘Business Corridors’, facilitating cross-border trade and capital flows within Asia and between Asia and the Rest of the world for two years.
Elsewhere, Gossip was a deputy CEO of HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad, Kuala Lumpur, for two years, leading regional growth strategies to unlock cross-border trade and investment flows within Asia and connecting Asia to international markets.

As a managing director for NCBA, James Gossip is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the bank.
James is responsible for leading the bank’s operations by overseeing the centralized operations functions to ensure quality and effectiveness in product delivery, customer service, and transaction processing.
He develops and implements plans for operational excellence, service targets, and cost management in the bank.
Also, he identifies and implements process and system improvement while ensuring effective controls and procedures are in place to manage operational risks.
