Mercy Wanjau is one of the three names visible on the State House website after all cabinet secretaries’ names were scrapped off.
Moments after President William Ruto announced the dissolution of his cabinet on Thursday, July 11, only his profile, those of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and Mercy Wanjau’s were left.
This drastic move came after intense pressure from the gen Z-led protests calling for changes in government.Â
“I have decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney General of the Cabinet of Kenya except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs. The Office of the Deputy President is not affected in any way,” stated Ruto.
