Biography
Michael Olunga is a Kenyan professional Footballer who also plays for the national team Harambee Stars and an attack-center-forward for Al-duhail SC Football club, in Qatar since January 12, 2021.
Education
Olunga went to Babadogo Primary School and Upper hill high school in Nairobi where he scored an A- at the Kenya certificate of secondary Education Qualifications. He later joined Technical University of Kenya for his bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Engineering.
Family
Olunga was raised together with his brother Victor Ogada in Luck Summer estate, Nairobi by both His parent Alice and Joseph Ogada.
Football Career of Michael Olunga
Michael Olunga started his early career with Liberty sports Acadamy in the Nairobi County League where he scored 32 goals and later left the club in 2012 after four years.
He then signed a year contract deal on December 19, 2012, with Tusker Football Club for Kenya premier Legue where he scored 2 goals in the 2013 season. His team won the Kenya Super Cup and was top 8 in the Kenya Premier League, same year.
In 2015, he joined Gor Mahia Football Club where he appeared in 27 games and scored 9 goals for the club.
As of 2016, he contracted with a chines club Djurgarden IF, played 7 games and scored 2 goals. He was also honored as the man of the match.
In 2017, on loan, he went to Girona Football Club and scored 3 goals. He then joined Kashiwa Reysol, a Japanese club, where he played for 3 years and scored 7 goals.
Qatari side Al-Duhail signed the engineer in 2020/2021 season, officially joining the Qatar Stars League. He has scored 67 goals for the team and bagged several hatricks.
Individual Achievements
Olunga was featured Kenya Premier Legue Player of the Year 2015. He was Japanese Legue best Number 11, top scorer and won the MVP Award in 2020.
In 2021 he was the AFC Champions League top Scorer and the Kenya outstanding sports Personality of the year.
