Lawyer and Activist Miguna Miguna has revealed instances in which Prof. Kithure Kindiki can become Deputy President likening President William Ruto’s plans as a child playing with a matchbox in a grass-thatched hut.
In a statement shared on his social media on October 19, 2024, he elaborated that for Kindiki to become deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua must either resign, die, or be impeached through a fair and credible process.
“If Rigathi is not dead and or has not resigned, he must be impeached through a credible process,” Miguna stated.
Further Miguna explained, “Even if Rigathi were to be impeached through a credible process, he has the right to explore and exhaust all appeal avenues open to him.”
Moreover, he highlighted that a vacancy will exist in the office of the Deputy President until Rigathi’s appeals have been heard and determined by the courts, up to and including the Supreme Court.
However, before that happens, Kindiki must have resigned from being a CS at least 6 months before Rigathi’s resignation, death, or impeachment.
In addition, Kindiki must have joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) at least six months before his nomination.

Miguna: President Ruto to Nominate Kindiki
Miguna remarked that when all the above have been considered the UDA party and the President can then go forward to nominate Kindiki as Deputy President.
Furthermore, the nomination exercise will require that a properly constituted Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission “IEBC” must be in place.
Second, Kindiki’s name must be presented to the IEBC for clearance and nomination after which the IEBC will duly nominate Kindiki.
Third, Ruto must submit Kindiki’s name to the National Assembly for vetting and confirmation.
“The foregoing process will go on up to 2027 assuming the revolution doesn’t sweep every one of them before 2027,” Miguna affirmed.
Further, Miguna warned Rigathi Gachagua to monitor his steps by watching what he eats, the medicine he takes, where he sleeps, and whom he greets terming it a piece of free advice by a patriot.

Kindiki Appointment Halted
Amid the prevailing rumours of Kindiki’s swearing-in process the Court through Justice Chacha Mwita issued orders suspending the Senate’s decision to impeach Gachagua and further warned parties against disobeying the order.
“Take note that any disobedience or non-observance of the order of the court served herewith will result in penal consequences to you and any other person(s) disobeying and not observing the same,” the judge stated.
Notably, the searing exercise will require Chief Justice Martha Koome to perform the duty. What remains unrevealed is whether the concerned parties will adhere to the above-issued orders.
