At least 10 people, including a minor, were killed in a road accident at Bw’arani near Ekerenyo along the Kericho–Nyamira Road.
The crash involved a Quaser Shuttle travelling from Nairobi and a trailer on Saturday, December 13, at night.
“A fatal accident has occurred near Ekerenyo along the Kericho–Nyamira Road involving a Quaser shuttle from Nairobi and a trailer,” reported a local Kisii radio station.
According to reports, others, including the two who were seated in the back seats of the PSV vehicle, escaped with serious injuries.
Following the incident, other motorists, police, and emergency responder services arrived at the scene to assess the situation and rescue the survivors.

- Kisumu-Kericho-Nandi-Nyamira Highway (122 km): Resumed in May 2025, this phased upgrade (Ksh 5.2 billion for initial 33.9 km Mamboleo-Miwani section) includes widening to dual lanes. Full rollout connects Nyamira directly, with interchanges to curb overtaking risks.
- Kericho-Kisii-Migori-Isebania Extension: Part of the broader dualling list, focusing on rural blackspots like Ekerenyo; tendering expected in Q1 2026.
