Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a Chartered Private University owned by a Board of Trustees under the stewardship of Prof. Simon N. Gicharu.
MKU Main campus is located along General Kago Road, Thika town, about 45 kilometres from Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi.

It has 16 campuses in Nairobi, Parklands, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret, Nkubu, Meru, Kakamega and Kisii.

The school of Clinical Medicine comprises three departments, namely Forensic Medicine, Clinical Sciences and Health Records Management.
Nursing school is organized in departments as follows: midwifery, community health nursing, medical-surgical nursing & Nursing education, leadership management and research.
The School of Pharmacy is accredited to offer 3 academic programs, including Bachelor of Pharmacy, Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology (DPT) and Post Graduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing.
School of Engineering
The School comprises two departments offering the following degree courses: Energy and Environmental Technology, Petroleum Exploration and Production, Real Estate Management and Bachelor of Technology in Computer and Electronic Systems.
Computing & Informatics
The School of Computing and Informatics gives learners the opportunity to undertake programs in the field of Information Technology, Informatics and Knowledge Management.
It offers three courses at degree levels, including Information Technology, Information Science and Knowledge Management and Enterprise Computing.
Hospitality, Travel & Tourism Management
MKU established the School of Hospitality and Tourism in 2016 due to the tremendous growth in the number of students, facilities and high demand for training qualified personnel.
The school is currently offering nine programmes and has two departments: the Department of Hospitality Management and the Department of Travel and Tourism Management.
Law
Mount Kenya University Parklands Law Campus is fully accredited by the Council of Legal Education to offer legal training to undergraduate students seeking to attain a Bachelor’s in Law.
The LLB Programme started in 2009, and plans are at an advanced stage to launch the Master of Laws degree (LL.M).
Besides, the School of Law runs a Centre for International and Development Law to promote research and training in that field.
The Centre is anchored in research, training, publication and establishing linkages with various organizations.

Mount Kenya University School of Social Sciences
The School of Social Sciences comprises the departments of Psychology, Humanities and Languages, Social and Development Studies, Journalism and Mass Communication, and the Institute of Security Studies, Justice and Ethics.
The departments offer postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma and certificate courses in various disciplines such as psychology, international relations, diplomacy, development studies, journalism and media studies, diplomacy, governance, security studies and criminology, peace studies and public administration.

The school targets at providing Pure and Applied Sciences as a major vehicle for attaining and sustaining industrial development of Kenya, which is consistent with the Vision 2030 Economic Pillar.
The Courses in this School are Bachelor of Science in Statistics, Industrial Chemistry, Finance and Statistics, Actuarial Science and Biomedical Laboratory Science.
Business and Economics
Students can enroll for business courses at MKU, including Business Information Technology, Business Management, Economics, Economics and Finance, Commerce and Economics and Statistics.

Fee Structure for All Courses
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Science in Nursing have three terms per year.
The students pay Ksh170,000, Ksh125,000 and Ksh83,500 per semester.
Law students pay Ksh85,000 per semester, while the Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine and Community Health fee is Ksh80,000 per semester.
The fee per semester for other courses is as follows: Medical Laboratory Sciences (Ksh70,000), Bachelor of Public Health (Ksh67,500), BA in Film and Animation Studies (Ksh60,000) and Bachelor of Technology in Computer and Electronic Systems (Ksh59,500).
Students pursuing Animal Health and Production or Nutrition and Dietetics pay Ksh62,500 per semester.
Those admitted to study Hospitality Management and a Bachelor’s in Travel and Tourism Management pay 57,500 per semester.
The following programmes cost Ksh55,500 per semester: Business and Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Science and Information Technology.
There are eight courses with a fee of Ksh55,000 per Semester, including Industrial Chemistry, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Community Health and Development, Health Records and Information Management, Education (Science), Bachelor of Education in Special Needs Education (Secondary Education) and Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Technology.
