Mourners in Murang’a heckled to disrupt a man sent read Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s speech during the funeral ceremony of former Member of County Assembly (MCA) Mark Gicheru.
Governor Irungu Kang’ata introduced the man to present DP Kindiki’s speech and condolences to the family after making his remarks. However, the mourners expressed their objection which prompted the preacher to intervene.
“I am requesting for just one minute to read the speech of the Deputy President of Kenya His Excellency Kithure Kindiki,” the man started before the interruption from the mourners.

The preacher convening the ceremony intervened and requested him to hand over the microphone as show of respect to the family.
Governor Kang’ata also opted not to go ahead to read the speech on behalf of the President William Ruto as well and instead handed it over to the family. The crowd responded with claps.

President Ruto’s economic advisor Moses Kuria was also cut short, while making his remarks at the burial.
Moses Kuria was forced to exit the podium after the congregants broke into song while he was making his speech. He began by passing his condolences to the family before he veered into politics.

While speaking in his local dialect (Kikuyu), he stated that those who voted in favour or against the impeachment of the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua should not be victimized.

“Those who voted yes or no should not be victimized as everyone was exercising his right. On the other hand, a wise woman does not run away from her home during the harvest, she runs away during the planting season…” said Kuria before being cut short.

“As you cry, it is my chance to laugh at you because your chance to laugh at me is gone. But as it is, what happened and we can’t keep looking back at where we have come from. But we need to plan ahead better and listen to those who have more knowledge than us,” said Kuria.
The Nominted MCA succumbed to a severe pulmonary disease that led to lung failure on November 13, 2024 at the Karen Hospital.
Prior to his death, governor Irungu Kang’ata had announced plans to hold a fundraiser to offset the MCA’s medical bills.
