President William Ruto’s allies have trashed Limuru 3 meeting that took place on May 17 terming it as a divisive and ethnic meeting.
Speaking in Kakamega, the leaders said the meeting was aimed at pushing a narrative that the country was not united under Ruto.
Led by National Assembly majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Senate majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot, the leaders dismissed the resolutions made during the Limuru 3 meeting.
“Regional and ethnic politics is not only backward, but it has been passed by time. The politics of personality worship is already behind us,” Ichung’wah said.
The leaders said the meeting was meant to create division among Kenyans and undermine President Ruto’s administration.
“How can somebody who has been a minister and MP call a meeting for a specific community? Those are things that we should not allow in Kenya,” Cheruiyot said.

Ichung’wah maintained that leaders should practice politics that unite all Kenyans and shun away tribal and personality politics.
On his end, Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri criticized Kenya Kwanza leaders who are already campaigning for different positions.
Kiunjuri advised the leaders to hold their horses and give the elected leaders time before expressing their political interests.
“If you are a leader who was elected via Kenya Kwanza and you are in government and you have other plans, please wait. We can’t have two bulls at the same time,” Kiunjuri said.
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa urged the leaders to prioritize unity and development instead of championing tribal based politics.
The leaders maintained that President Ruto should be respected and the country united for the purpose of development.
