The Ugandan government has sent a high-level delegation to Kenya for a three-day benchmarking mission, days after President Yoweri Museveni made headlines with controversial remarks about taking over the Indian Ocean.
“Today, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, Hon. Lee Kinyanjui, welcomed a high-powered delegation from Uganda led by Gen. Wilson Mbadi, Uganda’s Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives” read the statement.
Even after the heated rhetoric that trended regionally, officials from both countries appear focused on strengthening economic ties and learning from each other’s development strategies

Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry, Lee Kinyanjui, announced the arrival of the Ugandan delegation, reinforcing the visit as a crucial step in regional cooperation. The Ugandan team is set to tour Kenya’s flagship Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Konza Technopolis, and the Kenya Bureau of Standards.

During the visit, the Uganda’s interest is in understanding how Kenya has structured, managed, and marketed its special economic zones. Zones that have become a major part of Kenya’s strategy for attracting foreign investment, boosting innovation, and supporting export-driven industries.
