New details have emerged regarding the disappearance of Brian Odhiambo, who went missing in January 2025, allegedly in the hands of Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers.
According to the family lawyer, Abuya Mugendi, an informer has come forward claiming that Brian’s body is being held within the precincts of Lake Nakuru National Park.

The source alleges that Brian’s body was among six bodies discovered in a shallow grave within Lake Nakuru National Park.
“Because I have had a chance to speak to that informer. We believe there is a site, a graveyard to be precise at Lake Nakuru National Park,” Abuya narrated.

The revelation prompted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Odhiambo’s family to seek access to the park.
Upon their arrival, however, KWS officers denied them entry to add to the already rife speculations of foul play.

“DCI officers who should be able to process a crime scene are told you cannot process this crime scene because it is a protected area and we are the people protecting it, we must give you approval to get into this so that you can carry out your investigation,” Abuya said.

So far, the family lawyer acting on behalf of Vocal Africa has filed a complaint to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) seeking urgent action regarding the whereabouts of Brian Odhiambo.
“I have asked the DPP to consider number one placing the informer under witness protection program because we think it is important that that should be done and number two we think that the DPP needs them to move to court why an approval would take a day to a week to come for officers to go there,” said the family lawyer.
Odhiambo’s Family File Petition to Parliament
The revelation comes days after Brian Odhiambo’s family and human rights activists filed a petition in Parliament on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, seeking action against KWS officers.
Odiambo, who is a fisherman went missing on Saturday, January 18, 2025, after allegedly being taken by KWS officers.
Since then, his family launched a search exercise, visiting hospitals and morgues in Nakuru without success.

The High Court in Nakuru on February 6, 2025, ruled that Brian Odhiambo, was not in the custody of KWS officers.
However, the family appealed the ruling after expressing dissatisfaction with Justice Julius Nangea’s decision.
