The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has taken action against several fuel stations across the country for engaging in the illegal sale of adulterated and export-bound motor fuels in the local market, resulting in the closure of eight outlets.
In a notice dated Tuesday, June 2, 2025, the Authority stated that the action followed a compliance inspection carried out between April and June 2025. Out of the 1,331 petroleum sites inspected during the period, 17 were found to be non-compliant.
The move is in line with EPRA’s mandate to monitor petroleum products offered for sale in the local market, to prevent motor fuel adulteration or the dumping of export-bound fuels.
