The Ministry of Lands has invited bids for tenders in the planned construction of student hostels in various parts of the country.
In a notice dated Tuesday, March 25, the government called on qualified individuals to submit their bids.

“The Government of Kenya, through the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, State Department for Housing and Urban Development, invites tenders from interested and eligible tenderers for the following,” part of the statement read.
According to the tender notice, the government is seeking qualified tenderers to undertake the construction of 20 student accommodation projects in counties including Baringo, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, and Machakos.

Key Projects Listed by the Ministry of Lands
Among the notable projects included in the tender are:
- Construction of a Students Village and associated infrastructure at Chemogoch KMTC in Tiaty, Baringo, with a capacity to house 360 students.
- Construction of a Students Village at Eldama Ravine Technical and Vocational College in Baringo, accommodating 560 students.
- Development of student housing facilities at Nyeri National Polytechnic and Karatina KMTC in Nyeri County, each designed to house 580 students.
- Construction of a Students Village at Masii KMTC and Masinga TVET in Machakos County, each accommodating 580 students.
- Proposed construction of the Kieni TTI Student Village with associated social amenities and infrastructure, accommodating 580 students.

Instructions Issued to Tenderers
Prospective tenderers can access and download the tender documents from the State Department’s website www.housingandurban.go.ke or the Public Procurement Information Portal (PPIP) https://tenders.go.ke free of charge.
Tenderers who download the documents should register their details at the Supply Chain Management Office, located at Ardhi House, 6th Floor, Wing B, Ngong Avenue, during working hours.
All inquiries and clarifications should be sent to: procurement@housingandurban.go.ke.
In addition, the Ministry of Lands stated that completed tender documents should be enclosed in plain sealed envelopes and clearly marked with the Tender Number and Tender Description.
These documents should also be addressed to the specified address and deposited in the Tender Box located on the 6th Floor, Ardhi House, Ngong Avenue, to be received on or before April 8, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
Bulky documents must be delivered and registered at the Office of the Head, Supply Chain Management at Ardhi House, 6th Floor, Wing B.
Tenders will be opened immediately thereafter in the State Department for Housing and Urban Development Boardroom, located at Ardhi House, 6th Floor, Wing B, in the presence of tenderers or their representatives who choose to attend. Late tenders will be rejected.
The State Department for Housing and Urban Development may cancel the tender proceedings at any time before the award. Clarifications and addendums related to this notice will be posted on the State Department’s website www.housingandurban.go.ke.
