Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has won the Best Cross-Border Trade Facilitation Partner award in Uganda.
According to a statement dated Monday, December 8, 2025, KPA was acknowledged for enhancing trade and supporting economic growth within the East and Central Africa region.
“The Authority was commended for its pivotal role in enhancing trade and supporting the growth of economies within the East and Central Africa region,” read part of the statement.
KPA Awarded at the KACITA Quality Awards
The award was presented during the KACITA Quality Awards, held in Kampala, Uganda, over the weekend.
KPA was recognized for its role in facilitating cross-border trade and ensuring the efficiency of the Port of Mombasa.
They added that KPA’s efforts support economic growth in both Kenya and neighboring countries by promoting trade efficiency, reducing delays, and enhancing logistics management.
However, the award was received by the KPA Kampala liaison office led by Ms. Betty Wakio on behalf of the Managing Director, Capt. William K. Ruto, who appreciated KACITA for making the port of Mombasa their preferred Port of Choice.

KPA’s Other Achievements and Awards
Despite Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) winning as the best has won the Best Cross-Border Trade Facilitation Partner award in Uganda, it has won several other awards.
In April, during the World Day for Safety and Health at Work celebrations held in Nanyuki, it won four major awards. They included Best in the Service Industry, Best in Fire Safety, Best in First Aid, and Best First Aider of the Year.

During the Gala dinner awards, the Kenya Ports Authority’s “Mangrove Restoration for Ocean Protection and increased forest cover project” emerged as the winner of the 2025 International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) Sustainability Awards.
The project also topped in the Environmental Care category after beating two other finalists from a record-breaking pool of 500 global submissions.

It was re-registered in 2009 as KACITA – Uganda, with the mandate to cover the whole country.
