On Thursday, November 27, Kenyans are expected to cast their votes across various constituencies following different circumstances that led the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to set this date.
A total of 24 by-elections are scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025. The mini-polls span different levels of government, including one senatorial seat, six parliamentary seats, and seventeen county assembly ward seats.
The most competitive races that have drawn national attention include the parliamentary contests in Mbeere North, Kasipul, and Malava, as well as the Baringo senatorial race.
The IEBC has issued guidelines outlining what voters must observe during the election period. Polling stations will open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m. In cases where opening is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, the lost time will be compensated. All voters who are in the queue by 5:00 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
“Polling stations opened at 6.00am and will close at 5.00pm. Any lost time during polling will be recovered at closing and voters in the queue by 5.00pm will be allowed to vote,” said IEBC.

The Commission further encouraged voters to follow instructions issued by polling officials to ensure an orderly voting process.
So far, security has been heightened in areas where the by-elections will take place, with a heavy police presence deployed.
06:00 a.m.: Voting kicks off in several constituencies across the country as scheduled by the IEBC.
So far, seven voters have cast their ballots in the Malava by-election.
O6; 15 a.m: Heavy police presence witnessed in various places that are considered to be battle grounds, including Kasipul, Malava and Mbeere North.
06:30 a.m.: ODM candidate for Magarini Constituency, Harrison Kombe, casts his vote. He claims some of his agents have been denied access to several polling stations.
