The case of Wajir Member of County Assembly (MCA) and Minority Leader Yusuf Ahmed, whose death was confirmed after he was reported missing on September 13, 2024, has taken a fresh twist days after a body was discovered in Lake Yahud.
Yussuf Ahmed’s death was confirmed by politician Idris Bulle Mohamed who mentioned that Ahmed’s body had been found in Lake Yahud and delivered to the family.
“Body of the missing Della Ward MCA Yussuf Hussein found. Family to issue press conference shortly. The Body of the Missing Della ward MCA, Wajir County has been brought to Wajir!” Bulle said.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace!”
According to Bulle, the abductors mutilated the body by chopping off the nose and ears. He also mentioned that the eyes were gouged out and the face was burned to prevent the family from recognizing him.

DNA Results on Alleged Body of Yusuf Ahmed Tests Negative
He noted that the MCA had a missing finger, which allowed the family to identify him.
“Ignore the rumors going around that the death of our brother, the Della Ward MCA, is unconfirmed. They have chopped off his nose and ears, gouged out his eyes, and burnt his face to hide recognition! But he had a missing finger before, and that’s how the family recognized him,” Bulle said.
However, two DNA tests done by a private pathologist showed that the body recovered from Lake Yahud is not that of Yusuf Hussein Ahmed.
The family said that a private pathologist confirmed that the results were both negative.
DNA samples were collected from Hussein’s relatives to assist in the identification process.

Judge Alexander Muteti of the High Court on Wednesday October 23 had ordered the production of the missing Wajir MCA’s DNA report in court on October 25, 2024.
CCTV Footage Yet to Be Obtained
This is even as it emerged that the security agencies are yet to obtain CCTV footage from the MCAs pickup point to the point he was abducted.
Senior superintendent of police Justus Imaana informed the court that they have not yet obtained CCTV footage from the lawmaker’s pickup point to the location where he was abducted on September 13.
Furthermore, Imaana stated that he had only managed to secure two pieces of CCTV footage and had made requests to other sources along the suspect’s route to assist in acquiring additional footage.
He also mentioned that his request to the Internet Crime Complaint Centre (IC3) had been denied.
“After the abduction, I cannot be able to speculate which roads the two Prados took. I have sought assistance from entities like Interface Pharmacy, and IC3 gave us negative feedback,” he said.

“I cannot speculate investigations timelines reason being that investigations are a continuous process and being continuous they must have a beginning and along the way it reaches a point where you are able to unravel the perpetrators. I haven’t reached that level to unravel.”
Armed individuals abducted Yusuf Ahmed in Nairobi on the night of September 13 on Enterprise Road while he was heading home to Pangani from South C.
The abductors took the taxi driver’s phone to prevent communication during the attack.
However, amidst the chaos, the phone accidentally fell inside the taxi and was later recovered by the driver.
