Pastors through the Church and Clergy Association of Kenya (CCAK) has called for the amendment of the constitution and the scrapping of various positions in government.
In his statement, CCAK chairperson Hudson Ndenda, stated that various positions under the constitution duplicate roles that are performed by other government entities.
While defending, the Gen Z led protests, Ndenda justified their pleas noting that they have exposed the need for constitutional amendments to ease economic burden in the country.
Ndenda stated that “it is time we reflect back at our constitution and scrap off certain positions for example the office women representatives and the senate, since there are other govt entities such as the audit who can also oversee county operations,” he recommended.

Supporting these remarks, Ignatius Wanjala, Chairperson of churches in Bungoma, emphasized the potential benefits of this approach. He argued that focusing resources on development projects would create sustainable growth and help address critical needs within the community.
“Offices with duplication of roles should be done away with to enable us to live within our means,” advises Wanjala.
Prior, to this statement Gen Zs had started a movement dubbed #Occupy church which was meant to put an end to pulpit politics.
According, to them the church had become somewhat of a political battleground, and they were not having it.
The movement was instigated by lack of accountability from the church, where according to them was not performing its vital role but rather was providing platforms to political leaders.

Consequently, due to the movement the Lavington Church was forced to cancel an event which was to be attended by the First lady Rachel Ruto.
In a notice to members of the public, the church indicated that its leadership had called off the June 30, event.
The move came after pressure piled on the church pastor Reverend Simon Mutahi, for inviting First Lady Rachel Ruto to the event.
