Peter Wanyama is a Kenyan advocate and the Managing Partner at Manyonge Wanyama Associates (MWA Advocates), currently aspiring to the 2026 to 2028 Law Society of Kenya (LSK) presidency.
He has extensive experience in policy review or legislative development, legal audits and statutory risk assessments, and Devolution Litigation.
Peter Wanyama has been involved in Numerous National and International Law Reform Consultancies and advisory work in the sectors of agriculture, public procurement, telecommunications, energy, tourism, financial services, warehousing receipts, governance, energy or renewable energy development, health services development, science and technology law.
He has also participated in the drafting of 32 legislative statutes for the development of government ministries and agencies and facilitated more than 185 strategic seminars on policy and legislative development, devolution, land law, privatization, competition law, and agricultural law, among others.
Additionally, Peter Wanyama was recently engaged by the State University of New York (SUNY-KENYA) to train the Parliamentary Account Committee on compliance Issues in public procurement and disposals law.
Peter Wanyama’s Educational Background
He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi.
In 2004, Peter Wanyama earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
After completing his law degree in 2005, he applied to join the Kenya School of Law for further training.
Career Background
As a Kenyan advocate, Peter Wanyama has over 18 years of experience, specializing in constitutional litigation, legislative drafting, and devolution law.
Between 2007 and 2011, after his admission to the bar, Wanyama began his career at Mohammed Muigai Advocates, working under former Attorney General Professor Githu Muigai. He focused on strategic law reform across sectors, telecommunications, energy, and water.
Peter served as a consultant to Rachier and Amollo Advocates, where he developed draft legislation for major land-related legislation, including the Land Bill and the National Land Commission Bill.
In 2013, Peter Wanyama founded Manyonge Wanyama and Associates LLP (MWA Advocates), a law firm in Nairobi known for handling high-stakes litigation and public law cases.
Peter Wanyama is also a resource person for the Law Society of Kenya in the continuing professional development programme, the Kenya School of Law, the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management ( ESAMI), the Council of Governors, and Moi University.
Achievements
Peter has participated in the drafting of over 32 statutes for various Kenyan government ministries and agencies.

He filed 97 constitutional petitions against the national government on behalf of the Council of Governors to protect the devolution framework.
Peter Wanyama handled the pioneer governor impeachment cases in the Senate for Governors Wambora, Chepkwony, and Gachagua, setting the legal standard for future defenses.
In 2010, Peter helped establish the Legal Audit practice in Kenya through the Kenya School of Law CPD program, a practice later adopted by all state corporations.
He founded a law firm in Nairobi in 2013 to handle high-stakes litigation and public law cases.
