A police officer is being held at Kitengela police station for suspected involvement in robbery with violence.
The officer is attached to Kwanza police station in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is holding the suspects to allow further investigations.
Denis Mokua Monda was arrested along with four other suspects in a hideout in Nairobi area .
Four other suspects were arrested at a hideout within Mlolongo area.
During the arrests, police recovered two toy guns.

The accomplices are believed to have been terrorizing residents of Kitengela town and its environs.

He was also being pursued by a complainant over theft claims.
The officer is also believed to have been hiring his firearm to criminal gangs and coordinating a chain of criminal gangs within Nairobi area.
Isinya Sub-County police commander Ancient Kaloki saidthe nine suspects are behind a rampant spate of incidents of theft and robbery with violence.
Kaloki says the gun-totting gang also uses crude weapons and machetes.
“The insecurity incidences in Kitengela town are well executed by the criminal gang which we have so far arrested some of the ring leaders.
“The well-coordinated crimes are conducted by criminals who mutually work together,” Kaloki stated.
Some items including electronics that were reported stolen were recovered in the suspects’ hideouts.
“We believe we have sufficient evidence that we will use to charge the suspects in a court of law,” Kaloki added
The arrest and detention of the suspects come at a time Kitengela has reported increased theft and robbery with violence cases.
