A police officer has warmed the hearts of Kenyans after being pictured peacefully escorting protestors in Mombasa Central Business District (CBD).
The officer has been hailed for his kindness and compassion towards those protesting while executing his duties in accordance with the law.
Videos of the moments protestors shared with the unidentified officers have been circulated online, showing him walking down the street surrounded by many youths.
Additionally, some of the protestors were seen taking pictures and videos as he engaged in small talk with them.
Kenyans on X have compared the actions of the officers to other rogue police who have been pictured shooting protestors and dispersing them in different parts of the country.

MP Promises to Give Award to Police Officer
Sabaoti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has lauded the officer, promising to reward his good job and humanity.
Moreover, he noted that the officer deserved a promotion for doing his job appropriately unlike other officers who were hurting protestors.
Further, he promised to reward the officer, asking Kenyans online to help him identify the police.
“If I ever get a chance in this country, such shall be promoted as Police commandant.
“He understands the concept of policing and protesters’ protection. Someone sent me his contact information. I have a little reward for him. Kudos afande,” he stated.

Mombasa Civilian Shoots at Protestors
At the same location, a civilian opened fire in Mombasa CBD injuring two people.
Following the incident, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested and disarmed the man who was reported to be the owner of Qafee Point Hotel in Mombasa.

Further, the DCI noted that the shooting occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. prompting a swift response and transporting the injured persons to a local hospital.
The DCI commended the members of the public who promptly assisted the injured and ensured they received immediate medical attention.
“The DCI thanks members of the public who acted fast to assist the injured to hospital, and at the same time appeals to Mombasa people to be calm on this case as necessary legal action is being taken,” the DCI said in a statement.
