The National Police Service (NPS) has revealed details surrounding the death of a popular Kirinyaga University student, Sospeter Onyango Osungo, alias Billionaire Evance Akoko.

Akoko, widely known by his moniker ‘Sirkal’, was a fourth-year student pursuing architecture at Kirinyaga University’s School of Engineering.

The young man hailing from Gem, Siaya County, was also an entrepreneur famed for his ostentatious lifestyle and reportedly made millions through forex trading, cryptocurrency, and other online ventures.

He was found dead earlier this week after a reported confrontation with a gang of boda boda riders in Kibera slums, Nairobi.

The incident happened on Sunday, November 17, night in an altercation outside a club.

In a Police report obtained by The Kenya Times, Sirkal’s brother is reported to have confirmed his brother’s demise to the authorities on November 19 through a call.

The report indicated that Akoko’s brother said that the slain man was stabbed to death while in a group of people within Kibra area in Nairobi under unclear circumstances. The case reported at the Jamhuri Police station.

“The deceased was a known online forex trader who hailed from Siaya County. The body is lying at Chiromo Mortuary pending postmortem,” the report adds.

Preliminary reports by witnesses at the scene indicated that Sirkal, who was in the company of male and female friends when the incident happened, was stabbed in the back of his body.

It was reported that the wealthy youth had visited a longtime friend in Kibra where he arrived in his Audi Q3 car and parked it outside a popular joint in the slums.

He then offered to buy drinks for the revelers but in the process, they learned that a popular Ohangla musician was playing live music in a different neighboring club in the slum where they decided to go.

While entering the club, a commotion ensued as a crowd followed Akoko, with witnesses saying the confrontation involved his followers and the boda boda gang operating there.

It is within the confrontation when the angered riders turned physical and attacked Akoko and stabbed him leaving him for the dead.

In addition, the friends accompanying him were left nursing stab wounds after being attacked by the mob following the disagreement.

Witnesses said that their driver escaped the scene with the car and informed police. No arrest has been made but police said they are pursuing the group behind the incident.

Lavish life and death of another Denno Bright

Prior to his death, Akoko had become an overnight millionaire even as he pursued his degree.

The student was known for his extravagant lifestyle which he frequently showcased on platforms like TikTok and Instagram where he often posted pictures of luxury cars, nights out, parties and road trips that projected an image of wealth admired by many of his young followers.

His actual sources of income were never clearly disclosed, but many believed he made millions through forex trading while others questioned how he managed to fund such a lavish lifestyle.

Sirkal’s death comes just weeks after the passing of Dennis Oduor Otieno alias “Denno Bright” who was also went to school at Kirinyaga University.

Denno Bright was also recognized for his rapid rise to wealth and his extravagant lifestyle, which included showcasing luxury cars and partying, drawing attention from both his peers and a wider audience.

He attributed his success to forex trading and other online ventures.

However, his life was tragically cut short on October 10, 2024, at the age of 25. Denno reportedly collapsed at a Mombasa apartment following a heavy night out.

An autopsy revealed that he died from heart complications, with additional signs of acute pancreatitis and a depressed central nervous system, conditions often linked to excessive alcohol or substance use.
