Mumias West Member of Parliament (MP) Naicca Johnstone, faced a hostile crowd during the launch of the first sugarcane farmers’ bonus in Mumias, Kakamega County.
While addressing the event, the MP posed a question to the audience about re-electing President William Ruto in the next election.
However, the crowd responded with loud shouts of disapproval, with others waving for him to get off the stage. The president was present at the event.
The heckling disrupted the MP’s speech as the congregants continued to voice their dissatisfaction.
While MP Naicca was finishing up his speech, the incident highlighted growing political tensions and dissatisfaction among the residents.

Mumias East MP Salasya Takes a Hit at Ruto
At the same time, Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya took a hit at the president, calling him out for hurting Kenyans through salary deductions.
According to Salasya, Kenyans were bitter at Ruto, yet he had surrounded himself with advisors who were misleading him.
“Those civil servants have lied to you and misled you into hurting the payslips of Kenyans and that is why Kenyans are bitter with you,” he said.
Additionally, he highlighted the Housing levy deductions and increased National Social Security Fund (NSSF) deductions, adding that they only hurt Kenyans.

“Today we have farmers here but we also have teachers in these villages, whose salaries are deducted because of the affordable housing levy and they can see that they will never own a house.
“Let me ask you, Mr President if you take money from that kind of a person, they will get angry. We are living in a capitalist country,” he said.
Also, he asked the president to take action and do away with increased contributions.
“I want to ask that before the next financial year, you do away with the NSSf contributions, because it has never been useful to Kenyans, yet the amount deducted is increased every other day,” added Salasya.
