The Kiambu National Polytechnic has announced training and placement opportunities for young Kenyans in Germany, in collaboration with BSZ Erding, a vocational training center in Germany, and the German Hotel & Restaurant Association, Bavaria Chapter (DEHOGA Bayern).
The program targets qualified trainees for a hospitality apprenticeship programme in Germany, with successful applicants set to receive six months of blended training in Kenya before being placed in leading hotels across Germany.
Who Is Eligible
According to the notice issued on October 7, to qualify, applicants must:
- Have basic German language skills (minimum A1 level or equivalent).
- Hold a hospitality-related qualification in Food & Beverage, or Catering & Accommodation (minimum Artisan/Level 4 or equivalent),
- OR have at least two years of work experience in the hospitality industry.
- Be between 18 and 24 years old.
Programme Structure
The training will run from January to July 2026 at Kiambu National Polytechnic (KINAP) and will include:
- German language instruction
- A hospitality curriculum designed to meet the standards of the German job market

Upon completion, graduates will be placed in German hotels for a paid apprenticeship, preparing them for full entry into the German hospitality workforce.

Profile of Kiambu National Polytechnic
Kiambu National Polytechnic is a public Technical, vocational, and technical education and Training (TVET) institution in Kenya.
It was established in 1973, originally as the Kiambu Institute of Science & Technology (KIST).
In 2024–2025, it was elevated to a national polytechnic.
The institution is accredited by TVETA (Technical Vocational Education & Training Authority) under the Ministry of Education.
KINAP is located about 14 km from the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) along Kiambu Road.
It is approximately 1 km from Kiambu town.

- There are also short courses and holiday course offerings.
Entry Requirements
For Diploma (Level 6): a KCSE grade C‑ minus (C‑) or a relevant craft/certificate course.
For Certificate / Craft (Level 5): KCSE grade D Plain or a pass in an Artisan course.
For Artisan / Level 4: the requirement is lower (e.g., KCPE or low KCSE grade).
Also, the Institute may require certain subject clusters depending on the course when there are many applicants.
The institution has three intakes in a year: January, May, and September.
