President William Ruto has begun a three day tour of Western Kenya counties.
Ruto will seek to use the tour to bolster his support in the region that largely voted for the opposition.
The three day tour will see the head of state inspect various development projects.
The President is also expected to preside over the Masinde Muliro University graduation ceremony slated for Saturday.
Ruto is set to visit the Kakamega county teaching and referral hospital before holding a consultative meeting with leaders from the region at the State lodge in Lurambi.
He is also set to hold meet-the-people tours
Kakamega governor Fernandes Barasa said the county was set to host the President.

Ruto’s tour comes days after he hosted leaders from the western region at State House Nairobi.
He also met COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli and Kakamega Governor Fernandes Baraza.
President Ruto is seeking to galvanize the region which has over the years voted as a bloc for his political nemesis Raila Odinga.
In the run-up to the August 9 general election, Ruto teamed up with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and House Speaker Moses Wetangula which earned him a sizeable number of votes from the region.
Raila got 955,185 votes against Ruto’s had 611, 475 in the vote rich region
