The Public Service Commission (PSC) has released the schedule for the 2025 Proficiency Examination for Clerk Officers.
According to a notice dated July 29, 2025, the exams are scheduled to take place from Monday, September 22, to Thursday, September 25, 2025.
“The Public Service Commission will conduct the 2025 Proficiency Examination for Clerical Officers from Monday, 22nd to Thursday, 25th September 2025 at the following centres,” read part of the PSC notice.

Candidates will sit the examinations in nine regional centres: Machakos, Nyeri, Mombasa, Embu, Garissa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Kakamega, and Eldoret.
The exact venues will be communicated to registered candidates before the exam dates.
The examination aims to assess and confirm the competencies of clerical officers serving in the Public Service.
PSC has advised eligible candidates to complete the registration process early to avoid last-minute issues.
Eligibility
To qualify for the examination, a candidate must:
- Have a minimum KCSE mean grade of C– (minus) or its equivalent
- Be officially designated as a clerical officer in the Public Service
- Have served for at least one year in the current position
Registration Process
Candidates are required to download and fill out the correct registration form, depending on their exam status.
First-time applicants must complete Form A, while those who are re-sitting the exam should use Form B.
Both forms are available on the PSC website at www.publicservice.go.ke.
After completing the form, applicants must make the required payment through the E-Citizen platform and attach the official payment receipt to their application.
The completed form and receipt should be submitted to the Secretary/Chief Executive, Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 30095–00100, Nairobi.
All documents must be received on or before Friday, 22nd August 2025.
PSC Examination Fees
The basic registration fee is Ksh 2,625.

In addition, candidates must pay Ksh 875 per paper and a Ksh 50 service charge on the E-Citizen platform.
A total of seven papers will be administered.
Candidates are advised to carefully follow the instructions on the portal and ensure all fees are paid in full before submitting their documents.
For applications submitted after the August 22 deadline, a late penalty of Ksh 525 will be charged.
“Late registration will attract a fee of Kshs. 525. The deadline for late registration is August 29, 2025. Applications received after this date will not be accepted,” warned the PSC notice.
The final deadline for receiving such applications is August 29, 2025.

PSC has clarified that no forms will be accepted beyond this date.
Collection of Certificates
Candidates who passed the 2024 Proficiency Examination can collect their certificates from the PSC House in Nairobi during official working hours.
Officers must present their original national ID at the point of collection.
The Commission is also calling on those who passed earlier promotional exams and have not yet collected their certificates to do so without delay.
