First lady, Rachel Ruto was among thousands of people who attended Healing the Nation Crusade by popular televangelist Benny Hinn at the Nyayo Stadium on Saturday, February 24.
During the crusade, Mama Rachel sought to clear the air on the funding of the mega crusade after reports indicated that the state had splashed millions on the religious event.
Moments after Benny Hinn took to the podium, he recognized Rachel, hugged her and asked her to address the congregation at Nyayo Stadium.
President William Ruto’s wife was categorical that the churches in Kenya had not funded the crusade.
She stated, “The church has fully funded all that was needed to make the crusade a success.”
In addition, the First Lady recalled how she met the televangelist in Florida, USA, before inviting him to Kenya.
“I thank Benny Hinn for accepting our request to come to Kenya. I can tell you it is a big honour. When I met him in Florida, he told me he had stopped going out of America,” she said.
Who attended Benny Hinn Crusade
Rachel was in the company of Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, wife of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Other prominent Kenyans included Government spokesperson Dr Isaac Mwaura, Nairobi women representative Esther Passaris and Nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege.
The event was also graced by senior clergymen in the country.
Pastor Ezekiel, pastor Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, Bishop Wilfred Lai, and Bishop JB Masinde also attended the Crusade.
The crusade is set to run for two days, Saturday and Sunday.

In 2023, the first lady confirmed that she had invited the American televangelist for a mega crusade in Kenya. The announcement by Mama Rachel drew mixed reactions.
Some Kenyans criticized the government for spending taxpayers’ money to organize for a crusade.
At the crusade, local pastors gave short sermons, led by Bishop Lai, before Pastor Dorcas took to the podium.
Healing The Nation Crusade
“As we appreciate the committee that has organized this crusade, we thank God for Mama Rachel,” Pastor Dorcas said.
In her speech, Mama Rachel recognized Bishop Harrison Nga’ng’a for leading the steering committee that planned the crusade. She challenged Kenyans and especially leaders to embrace unity.
“When we are one, we achieve a lot,” stated Mama Rachel.

She also presented greetings from President William Ruto who attended the burial of the late president of Namibaia Hage Geingob.
“Before I proceed, I bring you greetings from president Ruto,” shared the First Lady.
“I encourage oneness with the body of Christ. When we’re one we achieve a lot,” read the sermon in part.
“This crusade is evidence of unity among our leaders.”
Further, the first lady recognized the church of Christ for organizing the crusade.
“I want to thank the church of Jesus Christ for organizing this crusade,” continued Mama Rachel.
She also noted that the televangelist visited Kenya 23 years ago.
“It’s been 23 years since Pastor Benny Hinn was in Kenya,” noted the Mama Rachel.
Celebrated Nigerian Gospel Artist Sinach performed at the Crusade before Pastor Benny Hinn delivered his healing message.
