Losing your national ID can throw your life into disarray. From banking to job applications, your ID card is critical to proving your identity and accessing essential services.
The government of Kenya provides a structured way to replace it through Huduma Centres across the country.
Here’s a complete, step-by-step guide to help you replace your lost ID card without the stress.
A national identification card is a gateway to accessing health care, financial services, employment opportunities, and government programs.
Without it, you may face delays or outright denials in essential transactions.

- A police abstract documenting the loss or theft of your ID
- A copy of the lost ID (if available)
- Two recent passport-sized photos
- 1,000 for the replacement fee
- A birth certificate or other supporting ID if required
