Trends for Insights Africa (TIFA) research has flagged a report circulating online indicating that it had released a poll on the most preferred leaders in Mt Kenya.
In a statement on Wednesday, April 10, TIFA refuted the claims, adding that it was fake news, and unsuspecting Kenyans were being misled.
The false report ranked former Presidential candidate Peter Kenneth the most preferred accruing 43.5 percent of the total votes of participants in the poll.
Additionally, the report indicated that 3,850 respondents were interviewed to establish the results of the polls.
“Fake News Alert! The results attached are fake. Don’t be misled. For authentic polls, visit our official website. Visit our official website http://tifaresearch.com,” indicated the research institution.

Details of the Fake Poll on Mount Kenya Leadership
At the same time, the poll indicated that Muhoho Kenyatta was the second most preferred leader in the Mount Kenya region, gaining a sum of 26.1 percent of the total 3,850 votes.
Muhoho was followed closely by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who received 18.7 percent of the total votes followed closely by Ndindi Nyoro who scored 11.7 percent.
The reports came while there was an ongoing political debate in the Mount Kenya region over the next kingpin for the formation of a Mount Kenya political outfit ahead of 2027.
Gachagua during his recent trips to the counties, has continuously shown interest in the contested role calling the Mt Kenya leaders to come together assuring the people that he was addressing the interests and concerns off everyone as the deputy president.

Gachagua and Mt Kenya Kingship
Earlier in January, he rubbished claims made by Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga who opined that Mount Kenya region had made a mistake for having a party to represent its interests.
“I saw our Nyeri Senator getting excited while on TV, the Senator’s role is to oversee the county governments, the work and plans of the national government is a preserve for the President and myself,” he said.
On the other hand, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria responded stating that those claiming to be kingpins do not enjoy support from the other parts of the country.
CS Kuria’s remarks can be translated to mean that he was best suited to lead the region since he is a national political figure.
“You cannot be declared an Olympic Swimming Champion for swimming in a bathtub. Oh, ye angling for regional supremacy, come and face me in the open Indian Ocean that is the great Republic of Kenya,” said Kuria.
At the same time, while speaking on January 20, Gachagua urged Mt Kenya leaders to unite and shun divisive politics noting that there was a political scheme to divide the Mt Kenya region voting bloc.
