Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa while speaking in Busia County on Saturday, 10th February said Kenya’s top policymakers hail from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.
The CS highlighted the significant role ODM supporters, particularly from Nyanza and Busia, play in shaping operational blueprints for various government agencies.
CS Jumwa urged the region to capitalize on the expertise of these professionals, including engineers, lawyers, and esteemed professors, suggesting that their contributions are invaluable.
She emphasized that various government agencies depend on the intellectual capabilities of these ODM leaders to create impactful policies.
“I was telling James Orengo (Siaya Governor) that most ODM supporters, especially from Nyanza and Busia are the most learned with most of them being engineers, lawyers and esteemed professors,” she stated.
“They are the ones who contribute to everything. If you ask them to create a policy, they do it very well.” added the CS.
Change in the ODM Political Direction
CS Aisha Jumwa also metaphorically encouraged a change in political direction, emphasizing the need to reconsider the current path.

“If one is faced with obstacles or has “hit a wall”, it’s essential to change the course of direction, remarked the CS.
Expressing admiration for the well-qualified professionals in Nyanza, Jumwa called for a different political approach in the upcoming 2027 general election.

She acknowledged the region’s wealth of talent and urged Nyanza residents to leverage the expertise of ODM members to secure top political positions.
“The most qualified doctors, engineers are from Luo Nyanza. The region boasts of all big brains in Kenya,” she remarked.
Kenya Kwanza’s Calls on ODM for Collaborative Efforts
The Kenya Kwanza administration have consistently requested ODM to share its governance blueprint.
This they note is part of their efforts to advocating for constructive alternatives from the opposition to address integral matters such as the high cost of living, shifting the focus from mere complaints.

CS Jumwa was in Busia County to launch projects by the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF).
The project aims to bolster community support and foster economic growth in alignment with the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
“The projects initiated under NGAAF are aligned with key government priorities, particularly focusing on supporting groups at the bottom of the economic pyramid.”
“Such initiatives significantly contribute to community support and act as catalysts for economic growth in the counties stated,” the CS stated.
