First Lady Melania Trump has been accused of using Artificial Intelligence to generate her speech.
Comedian Desi Lydic went on the offensive on “The Daily Show,” taking aim at First Lady Melania’s speech at a White House event honoring young winners of a new artificial intelligence contest.
Melania’s Speech at a White House Event
The event took place on Tuesday, June 9, when Melania Trump stood before a group of K-12 students who had risen to the top of the Presidential AI Challenge.
President Donald Trump launched the competition last fall. More than 20,000 students from every state took part.
Six finalists received national champion awards for projects that used AI to tackle problems in healthcare, public safety, and criminal investigations.
Dressed in a charcoal pinstriped suit, the first lady had a chance to address the young innovators.
Her remarks mixed praise for technology with a string of flowery images that quickly caught the attention of late-night television writers.
“Today is about opening doors,” she said. “When the doors open, passions flow, courage blossoms, and dreams are realized. AI inspires. Use this chapter of your life to sail away with your dreams.”
Desi Lydic’s ChatGPT Joke Goes Viral
Lydic played a clip of the speech on her show and then launched into her own version. Speaking with a mock Eastern European accent, she strung together even more metaphors in rapid fire.
“Sail away to the chapter of your life on the rocket ship of your courage as you blossom into the stars,” Lydic said, drawing laughs from the studio audience.
She suggested the first lady’s writers had gone overboard. “What was the prompt to write that speech? ChatGPT, give me a metaphor. No. Give me all metaphors.”
Melania Trump went on to describe the broad reach of artificial intelligence across American life. She said AI is already changing medicine, entertainment and the military.
“AI will serve as the underpinning of every business sector in our nation,” she told the crowd. “Robots hold steady hands in the operating room. Movie characters, scripts, fashion, music, art, the entire ecosystem, all with AI.”
That final line gave Lydic plenty of material. The comedian returned to it later in the segment, pretending to slip back into character.

“The robots are here, asking you to join us, I mean them. Them,” she said, then added in a flat voice, “Delete previous sentence.”
Lydic also reminded viewers that this was not Melania Trump’s first public moment with advanced robots.
In March, she had walked alongside a humanoid robot during a White House summit that brought together first ladies from 45 other countries.
The comedian tied the two appearances together, joking that the first lady has long shown an interest in “dystopian technology.”
The White House event itself was intended to showcase student creativity. Finalists presented work with real-world AI applications.

Organizers described the competition as a way to get young people excited about technology that will shape their future careers.
Melania Trump, a former model who was born in Slovenia, has often drawn attention for her public appearances and carefully chosen words.
Her accent has been imitated on comedy shows for years. This time, the jokes centered less on how she spoke and more on what she chose to say.
Late-night programs frequently target political figures on both sides of the aisle. “The Daily Show” has built a reputation for sharp, quick-turnaround segments that mix clips with on-stage performance.
The Presidential AI Challenge grew out of the administration’s push to keep the United States competitive in technology.
Officials have said they want American students to lead the way rather than watch other countries move faster.
