President William Ruto is set to embark on a four-day development tour of Luo Nyanza, starting Friday, October 6 to Monday October 9.
The visit aims to launch key infrastructure projects in former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s home region, marking the fourth time the president has visited since taking office.
According to reports, the President is set to tour Kisumu, Migori, Siaya and Homabay counties.
President Ruto will first visit Homabay County before heading to Kisumu City County where he will launch several development projects.
Ahead of his visit, ICT CS Eliud Owalo and Interior PS Raymond Omollo held a consultative meeting with Nyanza professionals and opinion leaders in Kisumu.
Ruto Nyanza Projects
Speaking after the meeting, PS Omollo stated that President Ruto will inaugurate several development projects in the four counties.
To begin with, PS Omollo mentioned that the President will visit the proposed multi-billion Kabonyo Kanyagwal fisheries and aquaculture research center in Nyando, Kisumu County.
Further, PS Omollo explained that the project is set to improve the fishing industry in the Lake region.
Still in Kisumu, President will inspect a road construction project in the Muhoroni sub-county and tour the multi-billion Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) mall along the Kisumu-Kakamega highway.

Also, PS Omollo said the president will visit the Kisumu Port as part of the tour of the city county.
In Homabay County, President Ruto will tour the Mfangano ring road and the Mbita-Sindo-Magunga road which are both under construction.
In Migori county, PS Omollo said the president will meet with sugarcane farmers and visit Rongo University.
According to PS Omollo, the President will visit technical and vocational training centers in Gem and Rarieda as part of his tour of Siaya County.
Additionally, the PS noted that President will launch the construction of the Bondo-Liunda road in Bondo sub-county where Raila’s home sub-county.

Ruto’s First Visit
President Ruto’s first visit of the Nyanza region as head of stated was on October 12 when he attended a prayer service at African Inland Church (AIC) in Homa Bay.
Ruto in the company of several leaders also met residents in a series of roadside rallies.
The host governor, Gladys Wanga who away on official duty extended a warm reception to the president.
In January 2023, the president had a two-day tour of the Nyanza for the second time to launch development projects.
President Ruto’s recent visit to Nyanza was in July when he attended a thanksgiving service for PS Omollo at Oriwo Boys, Homabay County.
Further, the president took part in PS Omollo’s homecoming ceremony at in Karachuonyo constituency still within Wanga’s county.
This was followed by the launch of various development projects in the region.
