Kenya’s telecommunication giant, Safaricom PLC, has announced the resignation of Rose Ogega form its Board of Directors.
In a statement, the telecommunication board stated that Ogega resigned with effect Friday November 29.
“The Board of Safaricom PLC hereby announces that Ms. Rose Ogega has resigned as an independent non-executive director with effect from 29 November 2024,” read the statement in part.
“The Chairman on behalf of the Board take this opportunity to thank Ms. Rose Ogega for her invaluable and robust contributions in the committees and at board meetings during her tenure and to wish her the best in her future endeavors.”
Meanwhile, the Board said that it will announce her replacement in due course.

Ogega has served as an independent non-executive director from 12 February 2019 and has offered valuable service to the Board for more than five years.
She has extensive experience spanning over 25 years advising and managing both large, complex organizations and emerging startup ventures.
In recognition of her contribution to the economic development of the country, she was awarded the Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS) in 2005.

Rose Ogega is the founder and Managing Director of Bloom Consultancy Limited; an organization whose core purpose is to develop leadership through executive coaching and mentoring.
Professional Career
She started her Career at Price water House in 1985 as an Audit senior and moved on to DHL International as the Finance Director for Kenya and East Africa in 1988. She retired at age 34 to start her journey as an entrepreneur.
She also served as the chairperson of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) between 2003-2005.
She worked as a Finance Director at Skynet World Express from January 1995 to October 2008, serving for nearly 14 years.
Rose Ogega was the inaugural Chairperson of the Women Enterprise Fund Advisory Board from 2007 to 2010, a role she held for three years.

Board Leadership
Additionally, she served as the Chairperson and a Board Member of the Audit and Risk Committee at Barclays from 2002 to 2015, serving for 13 years.
She also served as a Board Member at the Centre for Corporate Governance from 2010 to 2012 and as a Board Member for the National Economic and Social Council from 2005 to 2007, a period of two years.
Additionally, she worked at UAP Old Mutual Group for over nine years, holding several leadership positions including as Board Chairperson, Old Mutual Investment Services (2010–2019), Board Member and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee (2010–June 2018, 8 years and 6 months), and Board Member, Old Mutual Investments Group (2010–June 2018, 8 years and 6 months).
